๐ซ Unbean โ Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 24, 2026
Short version: Everything you log in Unbean โ
your streak, your check-ins, your symptoms, your first name โ stays
on your device. We never see it. We do use analytics and
advertising measurement services, which receive anonymous usage
events; those are listed below. We do not sell your data, and there
is no account, so nothing is tied to your identity.
1. Who we are
Unbean is a caffeine-free streak tracking app developed by Anthony
Delmotte ("we", "us", or "our"). If you have any questions about
this policy, you can contact us at:
hello.unbean@gmail.com
2. What data we collect
Unbean is designed with privacy in mind. Here is a complete list of
what is stored:
Data stored locally on your device (never sent to our
servers):
- Your caffeine-free streak and check-in history
- Symptoms you log during check-ins
-
Your settings (notification time, daily cups, price per cup)
- Your goal (quit or reduce)
- Your active Bean skin
-
The first name you may enter during onboarding. It is optional,
it is used only so the app and its reminders can address you,
and it is never sent anywhere โ our analytics records only
whether a name was given, never the name itself.
Data collected by RevenueCat (our payment provider):
-
An anonymous user ID generated automatically (no name or email
required)
- Your subscription status (active, expired, cancelled)
- Purchase history (for restoring purchases)
Data collected by our analytics provider (PostHog):
-
App installs, updates and openings, and in-app events: which
onboarding screens you complete, whether you saw or dismissed
the purchase screen, when you check in, log a relapse or reach
a milestone
-
The answers you give during onboarding โ cups per day, price
per cup, why you are quitting, how long you have been drinking
coffee, previous attempts, when cravings hit, and how you rate
your sleep โ so we can understand which parts of the app help
and which do not
-
An anonymous identifier generated on your device. There is no
account, we never call you by name in our analytics, and we
make no attempt to identify you
PostHog data is processed on European servers
(eu.i.posthog.com).
Data collected for advertising measurement (Tenjin):
-
Install and session events, so that we can tell which
advertisement brought someone to Unbean
-
On iOS, your device's advertising identifier (IDFA)
only if you allow it when the system asks. If
you decline, no advertising identifier is read and measurement
falls back to Apple's own privacy-preserving SKAdNetwork.
3. What data we do NOT collect
- Your email address, or any account credentials
- The first name you enter in the app โ it never leaves your device
- Your location
- Device contacts, camera, or microphone
- Your check-in history, symptoms or streak โ these stay on your device
- Any data sold to third parties
4. How we use your data
The data stored on your device is used exclusively to:
- Display your streak, history, and progress within the app
- Send you daily reminders at your chosen time
- Calculate your savings and show trends
RevenueCat uses your anonymous ID solely to manage your subscription
and allow you to restore purchases on a new device.
5. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services:
6. Notifications
Unbean sends local notifications (daily reminders) scheduled
directly on your device. These notifications do not require an
internet connection and no notification data is sent to external
servers.
7. Data retention and deletion
Everything you log is stored locally on your device using
AsyncStorage, and uninstalling the app deletes it. There is no
account to delete. The anonymous usage events described in section 2
are held by PostHog and Tenjin under their own retention policies;
because they carry no name, email or account, we cannot single out
and delete an individual person's events on request โ but you can
stop them being sent by uninstalling the app, and on iOS you can
decline the tracking prompt at any time in your device settings.
8. Children's privacy
Unbean is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly
collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify
you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this
page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance
of the updated policy.
